FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil is doubtful for his team's upcoming European Championship qualifiers because of a left knee problem.
The German football federation says Ozil had the issue with his knee when he joined up with the rest of the squad and did not take part in Wednesday morning's training session. The Arsenal player instead travelled to Munich for an MRI scan to be conducted by team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt.
Andre Schuerrle also missed Wednesday's early training session. The Chelsea player took part in individual exercises at the team hotel for the second day.
Germany plays Poland in Warsaw on Saturday before hosting Ireland in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday.
The World Cup champions opened their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign in Group D with a 2-1 victory over Scotland.
