SKOPJE, Macedonia (AP) -- Macedonian court officials say police have arrested 13 judges and 12 court employees from Skopje's misdemeanors court on charges of negligent service for failing to impose fines worth a total of 1.1 million euros ($1.4 million).
The prosecutor's office said Wednesday an investigation had been ordered because the suspects failed to deliver written rulings on the convictions in misdemeanor cases in 2012 and 2013. Without a written ruling, there is no obligation to pay.
Misdemeanor courts in Macedonia generally deal with cases such as fights, traffic accidents and public disturbances.
