Taipei twin tower project fails again

BES Engineering Corp didn’t show up for paying deposits and other expenses totaling NT$8.7 billion to obtain qualification to sign a contract for the Taipei Twin Towers construction project with the Taipei City Government. The project is to build two skyscrapers to serve as a new hub connecting the future Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport MRT line with Taipei Main Station, the hub of city’s railway and MRT lines.

BES was awarded the tender last year as the runner-up after the previous tender winner, Taipei Gateway International Development Co, withdrew over corruption scandals. BES blasted the city government that the incredibly high credit guarantee of NT$60 billion it required was “absurd and crazy” and will take legal actions against its decision.
