Watford manager replaced after 8 days in charge

LONDON (AP) -- The manager of Watford has been replaced by the second-tier English club after just eight days in charge.

Billy McKinlay replaced Oscar Garcia at the end of September when the Spaniard left the job for health reasons.

But Watford owner Gino Pozzo has decided that the club needs a more experienced coach than McKinlay, and has hired former Chelsea midfielder Slavisa Jokanovic.

Pozzo said on Watford's website that "given the talented squad which has been assembled and our position in the league, an experienced head coach with a winning pedigree is of primary importance to help ensure the success we are all striving for."

McKinlay was unbeaten in his two games in charge.
