INCHEON, South Korea (AP) -- North Korea's formidable but scandal-plagued women's football team will be looking to repair its dented reputation in a first-round showdown against Vietnam at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
The squad was excluded from next year's World Cup in Canada after five players tested positive for banned substances at the 2011 World Cup in Germany. The country's football federation was fined $400,000 and the team's doctor was given a six-year ban.
Play begins at 5:00 p.m. (0800 GMT) Tuesday at the Namdong Asiad Rugby Field in this South Korean western port city.
The North Korean women won the Asian Games football gold medal in 2002 and 2006, and took silver in 2010.
The Asian Games will officially begin Friday with an opening ceremony featuring Gangnam Style" singer PSY.
