Zhongzheng District Office, Taipei City Government holds sixteen Taiwanese language classes for new immigrants and will take place the presentation for this program at Wanhua New Immigrant Community Center at 14:00-16:00 on July 30. There will be many interesting activities such like Taiwanese folk songs and stage play and the like, welcoming local people to appreciate the performances.
To assist the new immigrants to adapt to this society as soon as possible, it had held the Taiwanese language learning program since July 1 and moreover, it also invited the professional Taiwanese language lecturers to give a lesson for them, the Director of Zhongzheng District Office Lin Ming-kuan noted.
Some of new immigrants have been living in Taiwan for more than twenty years. They can speak Mandarin and Taiwanese fluently but still have the perfect attendance for the classes and are active to encourage and assist other students to learn Taiwanese in the class.
Some students said they can’t speak Taiwanese at the beginning. They went to market and bargain with the vendors in Taiwanese after they joined the program. They said the vendors feel interested and offered them the discount. They all think this program is practical and interesting.
