Many big-name smartphone makers recently rushed to roll out new phones in response to the incoming Cupertino-based Apple iPhone 6 and expected media as well as market excitement surrounding this most-anticipated piece of gear. Hon Hai Precision Industry (2317), best known as Foxconn and for manufacturing iPads and iPhones under contract to Apple, is scheduled to have a new product launch press conference on Wednesday for a high-end smartphone InFocus M810 in partnership with U.S.-based InFocus Corp. Most importantly, the new phone can use the full bandwidth of spectrum available to the network.
The InFocus M810 is said to hit Taiwan market shelves in August and to sport a 5.5-inch Full HD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 13 MP back-facing and 5 MP front camera with a soft-skin effect option for the latter.
This new phone is also rumored to borrow some designs from the iPhone 6 and is just 6.99 mm in thickness. The phone will be covered by glass fitted into a metal frame which allows it shine fabulously when illuminated. The M810 is rumored to be priced under NT$10,000 (US$334), and tech blog SAYDIGI has discovered a price of NT$9,988 from a screenshot taken from an online shopping page which is no longer available.
Hon Hai shares ended flat at NT$105 in Tuesday’s trading session.
