South Africa 55-2 at lunch on rain-hit day 5

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) -- Sri Lanka's Dilruwan Perera managed to claim a valuable wicket in the 30 minutes of play possible on the fifth morning of the second and final cricket test against South Africa as rain threatens to spoil the host's efforts to level the two-match series Monday .

The day's first session was frustrated by two interruptions for rain as South Africa went to an early lunch on 55-2 in its desperate chase of 369 on the final day.

Offspinner Perera bowled opener Dean Elgar for his overnight score of 13 after Sri Lanka made 421 in its first innings and declared its second for 229-8 on Sunday.

Quinton de Kock was batting on 28 with captain Hashim Amla on 4 at the break.
