Klimov upsets Schumann at rapid fire pistol

Alexei Klimov of Russia beat three-time Olympic champion Ralf Schumann of Germany and set a world record in winning the 25-meter rapid fire pistol at the World Cup Final on Friday.
Also, Olympic and world champion Liobouv Galkina won the women's 50-meter rifle three positions to bring Russia's three-day medal tally to 12, four more than second-place China.
Klimov topped qualifying with a 591 score, two better than the old world record set by countryman Sergei Alifirenko in August. Given a five-point lead heading into the 20-shot final, he could afford to score only 194.9 and total 785.9 for his first international title, and just edge Schumann by 0.4.
World champion Zhang Penghui of China shot a final-best 203.4 to rise from sixth for the bronze medal.
Sonja Pfeilschifter of Germany _ who won bronze in the 10-meter air rifle _ led into the final of the 50-meter rifle three-positions, but a series of 9s saw her slip to third.
She was overtaken by Galkina, whose last score of 10.2 gave her 100.7 in the final, and a winning total of 689.7.
Wu Liuxi of China earned the silver with 686.6, edging Pfeilschifter by 0.4.
On Saturday, it's the men's 50-meter rifle prone, double trap, grand prix trap, and women's 25-meter pistol.
