CARSON, California (AP) -- Landon Donovan broke the Major League Soccer goal record Sunday, scoring his 135th regular-season goal in the Los Angeles Galaxy's game against the Philadelphia Union.
Landon surpassed the mark he shared with Jeff Cunningham by scoring his first goal in four games this season.
The 32-year-old Donovan gave the Galaxy a 2-0 lead in the 49th minute in his first game since being omitted from the U.S. World Cup team. Donovan is leading U.S. scorer with 57 international goals.
Donovan also holds the MLS playoff record with 22 goals.
