Dollar up, gold down in late European trading

The U.S. dollar gained against other major currencies in late European trading Friday. Gold fell.
The euro was quoted at US$1.2577, down from US$1.2690 Thursday in New York.

The British pound was quoted at US$1.1.8686, down from US$1.8786.
Gold closed in London at price of US$567.50 per troy ounce, down from US$568.55 late Thursday.
In Zurich the bid price was US$566.53, down from US$569.20.
Gold rose US$4.60 in Hong Kong to US$567.20.
Silver closed in London at US$10.90 bid per troy ounce, unchanged.
