Thai shares fall as investors wait for new Cabinet

Thai shares fell 0.2 percent Friday, as many investors sat on the sidelines awaiting the appointment of a post-coup interim Cabinet, expected in the next few days.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand's benchmark SET Index lost 1.12 points to close at 694.60, with trading volume valued at 11.27 billion baht compared with 15.95 billion baht on Thursday.
"The Cabinet list announcement next week should bolster sentiment slightly, but any upside may be limited as the (expected) key economic ministers are almost certainties," said Padermpob Songkroh, an analyst at Bualuang Securities.
Contractors were the big loser Friday on concerns over probes of corruption in the previous government and a new delay in bidding for mass transit projects.
Italian-Thai Develpment PCL slipped down 5.4 percent at 6.10 baht and Sino-Thai Engineering & Construction PCL fell 6 percent at 4.98 baht.
Higher oil prices pushed PTT Exploration & Production PCL up 1.9 percent to 107 baht.
