Luol Deng acquires British passport, can play for national team

Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng has been granted a British passport and hopes to play for Britain's national team at the 2012 London Olympics.
Deng, 21, was born in Sudan but lived in London for six years before moving to the United States to play basketball. He played at Duke University before joining the Bulls of the NBA.
"Although I've been playing in the U.S. for a number of years, London will always be my home," Deng gold the BBC. "It's the city I grew up in and where my family lives today."
Britain has had little success in international basketball, but national coach Chris Finch said Deng will bring a huge lift to the team.
"With Luol we get unbelievable talent and an athlete with size," he said. "What I've liked most of all when I've seen him is that he has the ability to make those around him better."
Deng will be eligible to play for Britain in next summer's European championship qualifying games.
"I don't think of him as a savior," Finch said. "I don't think we need saving, but he's a heck of a piece of a puzzle to have."
