Launch of European weather satellite delayed again

The launch of a European weather satellite has been delayed again after a "mechanical incident" at the launch site in Kazakhstan, the European Space Agency said Friday.
The MetOp satellite had been due to blast off Saturday from the Baikonur cosmodrome on board a Russian rocket.
However, ESA said it will now take off Oct. 17. It said the incident in Kazakhstan took place Sept. 30, but did not elaborate.
The takeoff already had pushed back from July 17 after three consecutive launch attempts were aborted because of problems with the Soyuz rocket's ground system.
The rocket was a new design that had previously only been launched in tests.
