Allardyce stays at West Ham, told to improve team

LONDON (AP) -- West Ham's owners have told Sam Allardyce to ensure the team is more entertaining next season after backing the manager to continue in his job following talks on his future.

Uncertainty surrounded Allardyce's future after three years in the job despite leading the team back into the English Premier League and securing a third successive season in the topflight.

The London club says on its website the "board have insisted on improvements to the set-up of the playing and backroom staff to ensure the team provides more entertainment next season."

With West Ham set to move into the Olympic Stadium in two years, co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold says they want to ensure "performances on the pitch will befit a team playing in such a world-renowned stadium."
