MINSK, Belarus (AP) -- Joel Ward scored two power-play goals and had an assist to lift Canada to a 3-2 victory over Norway at the ice hockey world championship on Tuesday, clinching first place in the group.
Ward tied it at 1-1 in the second period before helping set up Mark Scheifele to make it 2-2. He netted the winner in the third.
Canada won Group A ahead of Sweden and will play the fourth-place team from Group B in the quarterfinals.
Also, United States captain Justin Abdelkader returned from one-game suspension and scored two goals to lead the Americans over Germany 5-4 in their final group stage game.
The U.S. team is second in Group B.
