SAO PAULO (AP) -- Officials say an explosion apparently caused by leaking gas ripped through a fitness gym in southeastern Brazil, killing at least two people and injuring nine others.
Capt. Sergio Agassi of the Sao Paulo Fire Department says two gym members are unaccounted for.
The explosion took place Saturday morning at the Tem Esportes gym in Sao Bernardo do Campo, an industrial suburb on the outskirts of Sao Paulo.
Agassi told reporters the explosion killed a swimming teacher and a man who lived next door to the gym.
He said the explosion apparently occurred in the boiler that heated the pool water. It is still unclear what ignited the gas.
Agassi said he did not know how many people were inside the gym at the time of the explosion.
