Henman advances at Japan Open

Britain's Tim Henman overcame a slow start Friday to defeat Argentina's Juan Martin Del Potro 7-6 (3), 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Japan Open.
Henmen, seeded 10th, was down 4-1 in the first set but recovered and will face the winner of Friday's other third round match between Rainer Schuettler and Mario Ancic.
The 32-year-old Henman has not reached a top tier final since Indian Wells in 2004 and his ranking has dropped from a career-high No. 4 in 2002 to No. 55.
Henman found his rhythm in the second set, breaking the unseeded Del Potro early to take control of the match.
Because of rain that forced the cancellation of 12 matches on Thursday, Henman is scheduled to play his quarterfinal match later Friday.
