Opposition leader: no confidence vote in Solomons premier deferred because of threats

The Solomon Islands' parliament on Friday deferred a vote on whether to oust Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare because some lawmakers had received threats and were too scared to attend, the opposition leader said.
Security had been tightened throughout the capital, Honiara, parts of which were destroyed in rioting in April that followed the election of an unpopular prime minister.
Opposition leader Fred Fono, who has launched the campaign in parliament to oust Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, told the assembly on Friday he now wanted to defer the vote for a week.
"There have been a lot threats and security risks," Fono said.
