Cao, Rybakou win at weightlifting worlds

China's Cao Lei held off a double Russian challenge to win the women's 75-kilogram (165-pound) class at the world weightlifting championships on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Andrei Rybakou of Belarus won the men's 85-kilogram (187-pound) division, sweeping all three golds.
Four-time junior world champion Nadezhda Evstykhina of Russia led the women's competition after the snatch by 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds) from Cao, then clean and jerked 145 (319), forcing Cao to make 150 (330) to win by 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds).
Cao did it, and won when Evstykhina failed at her attempts. Olympic bronze medalist Zarema Kasaeva of Russia was third.
Rybakou had long been the best snatch lifter at 85 kilograms (187 pounds) and he finally did well in the clean and jerk to take the overall.
He claimed the snatch easily with 180 kilograms (396 pounds) and just missed world record attempts at 187 (411).
Russia's Roman Khamatchin matched Rybakou's clean of 203 (447.5), but lost the tiebreaker on body weight.
Rybakou totaled 383 (844), 10 (22) more than second-placed Aslambek Ediev of Russia. Tigran Martirosyan of Armenia took bronze.
