Ankle injury puts Liukin in limbo for worlds

American champion Nastia Liukin injured her ankle in training and is not expected to compete in the all-around competition at the world gymnastics championships this month in Denmark.
At last year's worlds, Liukin finished .001 points behind American gold medalist Chellsie Memmel in the all-around.
Liukin, the 16-year-old, two-time national champion, rolled her right ankle while working out on a trampoline on Sunday at the U.S. trials in Texas. She was placed on the seven-woman roster on Thursday, though both she and national team coordinator Martha Karolyi said they think her availability will be limited to uneven bars _ and maybe only in team finals.
