The European Union granted Jordan euro62 million (US$79 million) on Thursday to be used for reform and education programs, the EU said.
About euro42 million (US$54 million) will be used for education including programs that promote equality, especially in underprivileged areas, vocational training and programs for students with special needs, according to a statement from the EU in the Jordanian capital of Amman.
About euro20 million (US$25 million) was granted to Jordan for reform and good governance programs, the EU said.
The EU is one of Jordan's major donors. Since 1997, Jordan has received more than euro630 million (US$ 800.5 million) in financial aid through a European assistance program.
