Taitronics expo set to kick off

More than 1,100 vendors will be hawking their merchandise at the five-day Taipei International Electronics Autumn Show at the Taipei World Trade Center starting next Monday.
Organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (Taitra), this season's Taitronics will feature a Taiwan Security Industry Promotion Pavilion.
According to Taitra, this area will be showcasing safety and security application systems developed by Penpower Technology and Netown Corporation.
Designed for "automatic moving trajectory tracking," Penpower's TrackIN solution is comprised of a management server, a high-speed dome camera, and three camera monitors. When a "suspicious" moving object - a pedestrian or a car - comes into a camera's field of surveillance, the management server will activate the high-speed dome camera, Penpower said. The high-speed dome camera will enlarge, track and record the image's movements, the company added.
TrackIN offers four major safety and security functions: immediate image analysis, active monitoring mode, the ability to follow an object and enlarge its image, and the intelligent track and playback search function, Penpower said.
Demand for security-related products and services is on the rise, according to U.S.-based industry tracker Freedonia Group. This year, the global security industry is expected to rake in revenues amounting to US$185 million. In 2008, the market is projected to grow to US$201 million, the company said.
Taiwan's security industry accounts for only 1.3 percent of the global production volume, it added.
Taitronics Autumn will be held at TWTC halls 1, 2 and 3. Admission costs NT$200.
