BAE says it won a contract with the U.S. military

BAE Systems PLC, Britain's largest defense contractor, said Thursday it won a contract with the U.S. Army to provide new intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance technology that will detect and identify potential threats.
Financial details were not disclosed.
BAE's AURORA system provides imaging technology along with high-resolution and infrared sensors and an airborne system that processes imagery data in real time, the company said in a statement.
The technology was developed for use on a range of low- and high-flying vehicles that can accommodate payloads as low as 15 pounds (6.80 kilograms). BAE will initially install five systems on U.S. Army Shadow unmanned aerial vehicles.
