ECB raises rate to 3.25 percent, says euro zone economy set for solid growth

European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said Thursday that the economy of the 12 countries that use the euro was likely to grow through next year.
Speaking after the ECB raised its key refinancing rate to 3.25 percent, he said that "conditions remain in place for the euro area economy to grow at solid rates," but added that there would be some volatility around the turn of the year. "Global activity has become more balanced ... and robust," he said.
