Mauresmo pulls out of Porsche GP with shoulder injury

Top-ranked Amelie Mauresmo pulled out of the Porsche Grand Prix on Thursday because of a right shoulder injury.
The Frenchwoman withdrew shortly before she was to play her first match of the tournament against Michaella Krajicek in the second round.
"I felt it first at the end of practice on Monday and I was hoping that it was nothing serious," Mauresmo said. "When I was warming up today I felt the pain again and I think I made the right decision not to play. It's disappointing, but that's the way it is."
Lisa Raymond has taken Mauresmo's place in the draw as the highest-ranked loser in qualifying.
Mauresmo said she didn't know if she would be fit to play at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow next week.
Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin-Hardenne, Maria Sharapova, Lindsay Davenport, Serena and Venus Williams and Ana Ivanovic also pulled out of the tournament with injuries.
Mauresmo is seeking to finish the year as No. 1 in the world for the first time in her nine-year career.
