Indonesian shares rose 0.5 percent Monday, down from earlier high of 1,549.457 following news that central bank cut benchmark interest rate to 10.75 percent.
The Jakarta Stock Exchange Composite index closed up 7.893 points to 1,544.978, with volume was moderate at 2.5 billion shares. Gainers led decliners 76 to 39 with 82 stocks unchanged.
Among gainers were Bank Rakyat, which up 1.55 percent to 4,900 rupiah and Bank Mandiri which rose 1.08 percent to 2,350 rupiah after Jakarta revises law to restructure bad debt.
Traders say, gains across Asia markets also trigger buying, but profit taking by local retail investors offset gains of main index.
