Cullen drafted in to replace Clark for Champions Trophy

Spinner Dan Cullen was drafted into Australia's Champions Trophy squad on Thursday to replace injured fast bowler Stuart Clark.
Cricket Australia's amendment to the 14-man squad has to be approved by the International Cricket Council, which should be a formality after Clark injured his left thigh in a club match last weekend.
"This came out of the blue but naturally I'm really excited about the opportunity," Cullen said. "It's now up to me to take this opportunity and put my best foot forward _ I'm really looking forward to going to India."
Australian selectors went for a change of direction by picking Cullen, a 22-year-old offspinner with one test cap and five limited-overs internationals, instead of pace options Michael Kasprowicz, Jason Gillespie or Shaun Tait.
Australia had an excess of fast bowling options with Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, Nathan Bracken, Shane Watson and Mitchell Johnson all in the squad, while Brad Hogg was the only specialist spinner.
Australia starts its Champions Trophy against a qualifier at Mumbai on Oct. 18.
