Camerin advances, Vesnina upset at Tashkent Open

Top-seeded Maria Elena Camerin defeated Alla Kudryavtseva 6-1, 6-3 on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the Tashkent Open.
Camerin, ranked No. 47, took 48 minutes to reach her second quarterfinal this season, while second-seeded Elena Vesnina lost 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to Kateryna Bondarenko.
The 119th-ranked Bondarenko broke Vesnina in the ninth game of the second set to level the match at 1-1 and converted the only match point on the Russian's serve in the third. The Ukrainian reached her third WTA Tour quarterfinal in two seasons.
"I was lucky when I broke Vesnina," she said.
Third-seeded Sania Mirza advanced to the second round with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Pauline Parmentier.
Eighth-seeded Anastassia Rodionova won five straight games in the third set to seal a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Ekaterina Dzehalevich.
Wild card and local favorite Iroda Tulyaganova made it through to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Tamarine Tanasugarn.
Sixth-seeded Olga Poutchkova ousted fellow Russian Lioudmila Skvronskaia 6-7 (4), 6-2, 7-5 from the first round, while China's Sun Tiantian rallied to oust Mariya Koryttseva of Ukraine 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
