Hon Hai's Gou to give away bonus to Japan panel maker employees

Taipei, April 5 (CNA) Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Chairman Terry Gou is planning to give his dividend from shares in a Japanese panel maker to the company's employees, according to a Nikkei Electronics report. Gou announced his plan in an interview with Nikkei published this week, in which he said he expects to earn 400 million Japanese yen (US$3.87 million) as a shareholder in Osaka-based Sakai Display Products Corp. The chairman of the world's largest contract manufacturer of consumer electronics owns a 37.61 percent in the Japanese company through an investment company called SIO International Holdings Limited. To reward the panel makers' roughly 1,400 employees for their contribution to the company's 2013 operating profit of 15.1 billion yen and net profit after tax of 6 billion yen, Gou said he will give his dividend away as a show of gratitude. According to industry insiders, orders for Hon Hai's flat screen TVs pushed Sakai's operation ratio to over 80 percent, bringing Hon Hai within reach of its goal of a 10 percent share in the Taiwanese market.
