Newly-married Katie Hirth was on an organized scooter tour of Hoi Ann in Vietnam before her long-awaited honeymoon was cut tragically short.
The 26-year-old nurse from Geelong and her new husband, James Weedon, were riding separate scooters when a truck crashed with her bike and killed her instantly last Thursday.
"We know she died immediately," sister-in-law Laura Weedon said.
"We're not exactly sure of the details, and don't really feel like it matters, to be honest. But she didn't suffer, and that's important."
A Foreign Affairs Department spokeswoman said consular officials were also providing assistance to the families.
