SYDNEY (AP) -- Australian media reported Thursday that Wallabies captain Ben Mowen will leave the country at the end of the 2014 season to play rugby in Europe.
The move by Mowen, 29, would rule him out of the 2015 World Cup.
Fairfax Media said Mowen, installed as captain in his debut season for the Wallabies last year, wants to put his family first, and the heavy travel schedule involved in Super Rugby and with the Wallabies had him missing time with his wife and daughter.
Mowen was quoted as saying "the reality is it is time to put my family first."
Fairfax says Mowen is negotiating with a French rugby club.
