DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- Sri Lanka restricted Pakistan to 57-1 at lunch on the first day of the second test on Wednesday after captain Angelo Mathews won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep (1-20) had struggling Ahmed Shehzad (3) trapped lbw after the opener was dropped by Mathews in Suranga Lakmal's fifth over of the innings.

Khurram Manzoor, who needs a big knock after scoring only 33 in his last five test innings, labored to 36 with three fours. Mohammad Hafeez was not out on 13.

Both teams surprisingly opted to include three fast bowlers and just one specialist spinner in their lineups despite a Dubai wicket favoring spinners.

The three-match series is level at 0-0 after the drawn first test last week.
