Central bank to issue set of horse coins for new lunar year

Taipei, Dec. 31 (CNA) Taiwan's central bank will soon issue its traditional set of commemorative coins to mark the coming Lunar New Year, with this year's coins celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Horse. The set of three coins, which will go on sale at Bank of Taiwan beginning on Jan. 9, will feature a silver coin with a face value of NT$100 (US$3.34), one NT$50 coin and one NT$20 coin. The front side of the NT$100 silver coin will show a galloping horse, and the back will show historical Beigang Chao-Tian Temple in Yunlin County, which was built in 1700. The Year of the Horse begins on Jan. 31, 2014.
