DAKAR, Senegal (AP) -- Congo's government spokesman says an armed group has attacked the state TV and radio headquarters in the country's capital.
Lambert Mende said Monday that gunshots were heard in the capital as the attackers struck around state TV headquarters. He did not give further details.
Congo has seen violence in its east, where rebel groups operate.
Congo, with a population of 66 million, has been ripped by conflict for nearly two decades. Armed groups have thrived in its mineral-rich forests, despite the presence of nearly 20,000 blue-helmeted U.N. peacekeepers.
