From 29 December, 2013 to 3 February, 2014, Grand Hyatt Taipei proudly presents Chinese New Year takeout specialties. Due to Chinese New Year starting earlier next year, on 30 January, 2014, Grand Hyatt Taipei has specially prepared a selection of choices, ranging from two traditional Chinese soups to Chinese gift-set collections. Prices start from NT$338 and are all available at the east wing of the hotel lobby lounge. The two soups will need to be pre-ordered. This wide range of gifts is the perfect present for family and friends during the special Chinese Year of the Horse celebrations. For reservations please contact (02) 2720 1200, extension 3164.

Shanghai Court – Double-Boiled Abalone Chicken Soup
Pearl Liang – Buddha Jumps over the Wall
Chef de Cuisine of Shanghai Court, Win Hsu and Pearl Liang Chef, Hung-Wen Chien, proudly present their respective traditional Chinese soups – the Double-Boiled Abalone Chicken Soup and Buddha Jumps over the Wall. Both soups need to be preordered and both are priced at NT$3,600. They are available for pick-up on Chinese New Year’s Eve (30 January, 2014) from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm at the east wing of the hotel lobby lounge. Double-Boiled Abalone Chicken Soup includes one 1.8kg chicken, eight abalones, dried scallops, Chinese mushrooms, bamboo piths, and bamboo shoots which can be shared among eight people whilst Buddha Jumps over the Wall includes six Australian abalones, pork knuckles, dried fish, squid, Chinese mushrooms, quail egg, fresh taro and bamboo shoots which can be shared between six people.

Pearl Liang – Traditional Cantonese Rice Cakes
Pearl Liang’s Hong Kong chef de cuisine – Yi Long Lee, with almost 50 years of culinary experience, welcomes the Year of Horse by sharing his Cantonese cake recipes, creating one sweet and two savoury flavoured rice cakes such as coconut cream and brown sugar rice cake (NT$520/600g), made with brown sugar imported from Okinawa, Japan (Okinawa brown sugar is 30 times the cost compared to plain brown sugar). The other two savoury rice cakes are turnip cake with preserved sausage (NT$338/600g) and taro cake with dried baby shrimps (NT$338/600g).

Chinese New Year Cantonese Cake Gift Set
Traditional Cantonese rice cakes are also sold in gift box sets, combined with Grand Hyatt Taipei’s signature XO chilli sauce. There are three options for guests.

Cantonese cake gift set (NT$1,500) – one coconut cream and brown sugar rice cake (600g), one turnip cake with preserved sausage (600g) and one taro cake with dried baby shrimps (600g).

Cantonese cake and preserved sausage gift set (NT$1500) – one turnip cake with preserved sausage (600g), one taro cake with dried baby shrimp (600g) and one Cantonese sausage pack (250g).

Cantonese cake and XO chilli sauce gift set (NT$1,600) – one turnip cake with preserved sausage (600g), one taro cake with dried baby shrimp (600g) and one signature XO chilli sauce (200g).
