Year-end party goers to enjoy 'warmer' weather

Taipei, Dec. 29 (CNA) The current cold spell is expected to ease up early Monday as the coming week will become warmer and year-end party goers will enjoy milder weather with lows of 13-17 degrees Celsius Tuesday evening, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Sunday. The CWB forecast that cross-year parties will go on across Taiwan when temperatures in the western and northeastern parts of the island will rise to 13-15 degrees, with Hualien and Taitung seeing temperatures of 16-17 degrees and southern Taiwan, 15-16 degrees. It will be cloudy with occasional drizzle in the northern coast and greater Taipei areas, said the CWB, calling on people planning to stay outdoor that evening to keep warm. It said the cold air mass will weaken Monday, bringing temperatures up to 16 degree in northern Taiwan, 21 degree in central Taiwan and 23 degree in the southern part of the island. The warmer days will remain until Friday and on Saturday, a new cold air mass will hover over the island again, according to the CWB. (By Angela Tsai and S.C. Chang)
