Taiwanese singer Valen Hsu announces marriage to Korean man

Taipei, Dec. 29 (CNA) Taiwanese singer Valen Hsu announced Sunday that she had married her South Korean boyfriend in November, describing Choi Jae-sung as "my 100 percent soul mate." In a statement, she said that she and her new husband will "walk toward a new journey of life hand in hand from now on." "Happiness is really just around the corner," she said in the statement. The 39-year-old said she has sung many love songs over the years but never realized what "complete love" meant until she met him. The new couple will invite their family members and close friends to a party to share their joy later but for now, they prefer to enjoy a small world of just the two of them, Hsu's statement said. Hsu's husband has been dubbed "Mr. Big," apparently for his size next to the petite singer. It was understood that the tall and bespectacled "Mr Big" is a senior manager at SM Entertainment who frequently travels to China. The couple met at a friend's gathering, where he was attracted to her at first sight. Hsu is widely known for her sad love ballads, which have earned her the nickname "The Queen of Love Songs." Between 1995 and 2000 was the peak of her career, during which she released several well-known albums such as "Sea of Tears," "If the Cloud Knows," and "Place de Sun Airport." The singer-songwriter is known for her vocals, which are wispy yet strong and crystal-clear. She has not released an album in Taiwan since 2011. (By Hsu Hui, Jay Chen and Elaine Hou)
