LONDON (AP) -- British police have arrested two men in connection with a fire aboard a North Sea ferry which forced the ship to return shortly after embarking from northern England.
Police said Sunday that two crew members and four passengers were taken off the ferry for treatment of smoke inhalation before it returned to Newcastle. Twenty-three other people were treated on board for smoke-related injuries.
The ferry, carrying 946 passengers to Amsterdam, had sailed just 30 miles (50 kms) when the fire broke out at about 2300 GMT Saturday.
Northumbria police say they arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of arson and a 28-year-old man on suspicion of fighting.
