Saudi Arabia seeks native convicted of sex assault

CENTENNIAL, Colorado (AP) -- Saudi Arabia is seeking the return of a Saudi national serving an eight-year Colorado prison sentence for sexually assaulting his housekeeper and treating her as a virtual slave.

A hearing was being held Thursday in Centennial to discuss the sentence for Homaidan al-Turki, who has been held since 2006. He wants a judge to release him from prison and allow him to serve probation instead.

Colorado officials have denied al-Turki's request to serve out his sentence in Saudi Arabia because he's refused to undergo sex offender treatment.

Fahed Al-Rawaf of the Saudi Embassy in Washington asked the court to release al-Turki for more appropriate treatment at home.

Al-Turki's brother also made an emotional appeal for a return to Saudi Arabia.
