`Flavor of Life' seen as strong contender at Golden Bell Awards

Taipei, Oct. 23 (CNA) "Flavor of Life," a drama that examines family relationships, is seen as a strong contender in the 48th Golden Bell Awards, Taiwan's equivalent of the Emmys, among 1,940 works in 35 categories. The program, produced by Sanlih E-Television, leads the pack with nine nominations for the awards, scheduled to be presented Oct. 25. Besides best Television Series, the show's nominations include two for Best Leading Actor and Best Leading Actress, played by Long Shao-Hua and Miao Ke-li. Long plays a sufferer of Alzheimer's disease whose unexpected return to the family he abandoned years earlier creates an impact in their lives. Meanwhile, "An Innocent Mistake," produced by Taiwan Television Enterprise, has six nominations, including Best Television Series, Best Leading Actor and Best Leading Actress. The story is about a teenage orphan looking for the meaning of life through the three bar ladies who adopted her. Other favorites in the Leading Actor and Actress categories include Vic Chou, who plays a soldier in the war story "Home," and Jade Chou, who plays a single young woman looking for true love in the romance "Falling." The Golden Bell Awards are one of the three major annual entertainment awards presented in Taiwan, along with the Golden Melody Awards for music and the Golden Horse Awards for movies.
