Beset by website woes, Obama administration appeals to allies to stick with health care law

Obama appeals to allies to stick with health law

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration is appealing to its allies in Congress, on Wall Street and across the U.S. to stick with President Barack Obama's health care law despite the embarrassing problems with the launch of its website.

Now that the government shutdown is over, there's increased focus on the website's rollout and more pressure on Democrats to distance themselves from its problems.

Obama recorded a video message Tuesday telling supporters of an Obama-aligned nonprofit group, Organizing for America, that he needs their help and has people working overtime to fix the website.

Vice President Joe Biden and top officials held a call Tuesday with business leaders and discussed the law's implementation.

And the administration is sending a Health and Human Services official to Capitol Hill on Wednesday to brief Democratic lawmakers.
