National Security Bureau deputy chief resigns

Taipei, Oct. 22 (CNA) The National Security Bureau (NSB) confirmed Tuesday that its deputy director-general, Chang Kuang-yuan, resigned earlier in the day due to health problems. Chang, 64, asked President Ma Ying-jeou six weeks ago to let him quit, saying poor health was the only reason he wanted to leave the post, the bureau said. The Presidential Office released Ma's approval of the resignation request, which will take effect Nov. 1, the bureau said, adding that a successor to Chang had not been named. Chang, who has a master's degree in information management, had previously served as NSB division chief, chief of the information department and deputy director of the bureau's technology center.
