Taiwan-U.S. commercial forum to be held in Kaohsiung

Taipei, May 23 (CNA) The fifth annual Taiwan-U.S. Commercial Forum will take place in Kaohsiung Friday, focusing on the development of bilateral trade relations and the prospects for further economic cooperation, the organizers said recently. The forum will be attended by officials and scholars from both sides who will discuss issues related to bilateral trade, said the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), which is co-organizing the event with the National Pingtung Institute of Commerce. The deputy director of AIT's Taipei office, Brent Christensen, is scheduled to give a keynote speech on economic developments relating to the United States and Taiwan. Dale W. Jieh of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs is set to talk about business opportunities following the resumption of the talks under the Taiwan-U.S. Trade and Investment Framework Agreement. Other topics on the agenda include new strategies for developing U.S.-Taiwan commercial ties.
