AEK Athens chairman arrested for unpaid taxes

AEK Athens chairman Andreas Dimitrelos has been arrested over unpaid taxes by the Greek club worth (EURO)170 million ($219.5 million).
The 54-year-old Dimitrelos was in police custody on Thursday and is due to testify before an inquiring magistrate on Friday.
It was the latest high-profile arrest over taxes in the crisis-hit country. The club said the alleged offenses predated Dimitrelos' chairmanship which started last year. It said tax arrears were being settled under a debt restructuring procedure initiated by AEK under the country's bankruptcy code.
AEK is 11th in the 16-team Greek league.
Also this week, midfielder Giorgos Katidis was suspended from AEK after celebrating a goal with a Nazi-style salute. The former Greece Under 21-captain also received a lifetime national team ban.
