Climbing poet causes stir at US Embassy in Paris

A self-styled poet with a penchant for media stunts raised security concerns by scaling a roof next to the U.S. Embassy in Paris and rattling an enclosure before being led down on firefighters' ladder to be questioned by police.
Embassy spokesman Mitchell Moss said the man, Herve Couasnon, didn't enter embassy property but was on an adjacent roof for about an hour Thursday afternoon. He said incident "was certainly something we paid attention to" but the embassy was not pressing charges.
A Paris police spokeswoman said Couasnon's motives were not immediately clear. He was expected to be released.
In 2003, Couasnon _ reportedly a one-time bus driver and would-be presidential candidate _ was briefly detained after succeeding in scaling the embassy roof and scattering copies of his pacifist poems.
