Taiwanese artists set off for music trade fair in France

Taipei, Jan. 24 (CNA) Taiwanese music artists including pop diva Jolin Tsai on Thursday left Taiwan for France to attend a music industry trade fair and perform at a music event, organizers said. The artists, who also include singer and songwriter William Wei and Yen and Z of the Taiwanese electronic band Salamander, are scheduled to participate in MIDEM, billed as the world's largest music trade fair, which will take place Jan. 26-29 in Cannes, said Great Capital Artist. They will also perform at the Taiwan Night concert in Paris on Jan. 30, said the company, which was commissioned by Taiwan's Ministry of Culture to organize the concert. French composer and music producer Jean Michel Jarre will also announce that he will invite music production teams and top music artists from Taiwan, including Tsai, to perform in one of his concerts, the company said. The Taiwan Night concert, scheduled to take place at Le Trianon in Paris, is part of Taiwan's efforts to promote its music at the MIDEM (Marche International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale), which attracts thousands of musicians, producers, and managers each year. Tsai and Wei will perform their popular hits at the concert, and Yen and Z will remix songs by artists who have won Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards and Golden Indie Music Awards, said the organizer.
