Marcel Hirscher leads first run in WCup slalom

Overall World Cup leader Marcel Hirscher was fastest in the opening run of a tight slalom race Sunday.
Hirscher, who also leads the slalom standings, raced first and holds a 0.05 seconds lead over Germany's Felix Neureuther.
Jens Byggmark of Sweden was third, 0.11 behind Hirscher's time of 57.75 seconds.
Ivica Kostelic of Croatia, seeking a fourth straight win in the Wengen slalom, placed fourth with 0.25 to make up in the afternoon second run.
Ted Ligety of the United States was 13th, trailing by 0.86. He can close the gap in the overall standings on second-place Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway, who skips slalom races.
Hirscher has 14 rivals within one second of his time.
Alexis Pinturault of France almost skied out and did not qualify for the second run.
