Over 700 Taiwanese travelers stranded by Hurricane Sandy

Taipei, Oct. 30 (CNA) More than 700 Taiwanese travelers were stranded at airports on the eastern seaboard of the United States as of Tuesday as a result of Hurricane Sandy, according to air carriers. China Airlines said a Taiwan-bound flight with 200 seats booked was cancelled a day earlier, while EVA Air said over 500 passengers on two EVA Air flights were stranded on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. All flights to and from the eastern U.S. have been affected by the hurricane, the airline companies said. Travelers were advised to review their flight information or contact local carriers for the status of their flights before travelling, they said. Any passengers in distress will be given every assistance to get home, the companies added. (By Lin Shen-shu and Maia Huang)
