Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno will miss Wednesday's German Cup tie at Arminia Bielefeld after undergoing surgery on his right elbow.
Leverkusen says Leno needed the operation to cure long-standing pain caused by bursitis, which became worse after the side's 2-1 Bundesliga win at Bayern Munich on Sunday.
It was unclear how long the 20-year-old would remain out of action.
Joint-coach Sami Hyypia says "he's definitely out against Bielefeld. We'll see after that."
Forward Karim Bellarabi will also miss the visit to third-tier Bielefeld because of a groin injury.
